The Berry Center Farm & Forest Institute Land Acknowledgement
The Berry Center Farm is on Maddox Ridge Road, overlooking the Drennon Creek and springs, where ancient people and animals congregated for sustenance. Indigenous peoples have always lived on the land that is now called Kentucky, and continue to live here today. The place we now call Kentucky is primarily Shawnee, Cherokee, Chickasaw and Osage land. In the 2010 Census, there were a recorded 31,335 Native Americans living in Kentucky. We are carefully studying the history and present of our place.
